Brutus (Ship) logbook, 1805.

The logbook of the ship Brutus details a shipping voyage from Mauritius to Sumatra in Sept. 1805. The ship's home port was possibly Newburyport, Mass.; the owners were John Pettingell, Jonathan Gage, and possibly Samuel Chase; the master was possibly James Francis; the logbook keeper was Moses Emery. The logbook includes notes on birds seen during the voyage and shipboard occupations.
